Here is a note from Prisca!
I am a molecular biologist. I moved to New Mexico from Illinois to start a postdoc at Los Alamos National Laboratory, working on algae biofuels. Being a scientist is not always what I thought I’d become.
I grew up wanting to be a dancer/choreographer, then a United Nations interpreter, a nun, a lawyer…until as a teenager I came across “Double helix” on TV, a dramatization of the race to solve the structure of DNA, starring Jeff Goldblum. I realized science could be very cool and exciting…the spark was ignited. I have a passion for learning, science, nature and people.
I am committed to helping to “democratize” science, because I believe that just like art, music and movies, one should not have to be a scientist to enjoy and appreciate science. Science IS for everyone.
