After 30 years of marriage I can now join the ranks of Duanes “bromance” friends. We now have shared a “near death” experience… A Valentine afternoon hike turned into a 6 hour adventure that included almost calling 911 after getting twisted having to bush whack, my left knee locking up and finding ourselves stuck at the bottom of White Rock Canyon after dark, I Thank God for my husbands great sense of direction, and my cell phone flashlight, and just enough moonlight to see while we were conserving my cell phone battery! We sure needed all three! We are now home safe after hiking out for three hours in the dark! For those who wonder where we went… We started down from the top of Water Canyon off of Estante’ Way, and went down all the way to the Rio Grand River, then North to the Red Dot and straight up. Over 9 miles total. Lesson learned? When I ask my husband to go for a hike, I think I will be much more specific! A Valentines Day turned to Night to remember! Cheers to lovingly learning to trust the process! Lol! #legacynowlived#walkyourtalkwithleanne
Thanks for the love everyone! In answer to your question about my knee… It is very sore this morning. I found out 13 years ago or so after hiking a 14er in Colorado that I have little to no cartilage in the left knee. That has not stopped me from continuing to hike, and until yesterday, with all of our hiking and camping adventures it has never bothered me like this! Bush waking and rock scrambling and the 1000 feet in elevation changes appear to have aggravated a tired knee! The knee did not stop me from climbing tho! These two walking sticks were my saving grace out of the canyon! See the V at the top of the one in the right! That’s my victory hand clutch! Undeniable a gift from God! I refuse to be a victim of my circumstances! Another lesson I am grateful to have learned:) xoxo?
